You don’t suck at life
You are stronger than you feel
You are smarter than you think
Your friends will always have your back
They want you to succeed, to be happy
Allow yourself to be happy
You are stronger than the fear

Buzz Beachball
Had a great time at the buzz beachball last weekend. Even though the pre-concert activities got broken up as soon as we got there & I didn’t have a chance to properly introduce people or meet others I had been expecting to meet or talk to people I hadn’t seen in months, I did get to hang out with a lot my friends throughout the concerts.
My primary goal was to see Flogging Molly, and I was not disappointed in their performance. Anytime I hear their music now I will be reminded of the concert and who I was with and the great time I had.

Even Beluga whales know what love is…silly Elmo.
If this is from the Vancouver Aquarium, my wife and I have kissed the same Beluga. I love whales the most.

Christmas Eve
Never really been into Christmas. It was always a big deal in our family (large Catholic family w/ a Mother who nearly became a nun), but I never “got into it”.
Long, long story about the Christmas experience growing up, so I won’t bore you. In any case I would prefer to not decorate or have a tree. Simply give a gift or two and call it a day. No get together with family or anything, just relax and enjoy the day & people you enjoy being with.
This Christmas my daughter is 2.5 so now she understands a lot more than last year. Today I opened a couple gifts my sister sent me and ripped the wrapping paper off like crazy. Piece by piece, no careful unwrapping here. My daughter picked up on this and when she opened her gift she did the same thing. This was the chocolate sauce on a awesome day.
The day began just like a normal weekend, she got up in the morning, we ate breakfast, played with toys, had a snack, went shopping, etc. I asked her to pick out some cookies to bake & she chose some reindeer cookies. I also happened to walk past a end isle display of hot cocoa so I picked up a box & thought that would be fun.
After her nap we “made” cookies and while they were baking I made us hot cocoa. This was the first for both. After she took a sip of the hot cocoa she turned to me and gave me a hug. Didn’t say anything, just gave me a hug. This is what made my day. She doesn’t normally do that & I wasn’t sure if she was enjoying helping bake cookies or not. I think she had a great time.
These are the types of memories I am filling my head with. Now I am hoping she tears into the presents tomorrow morning, and if she does it will make me smile and likely embed this image into my memory forever.

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear.

A little about me
I am an extremely slow reader. EXTREMELY slow.
I can read fast and comprehend well enough when I put my mind to it, but for the most part if I decide to read something I want to take it in and get the full meaning and even develop some of my own meaning. Often my mind wanders, I start off on where the story should go and 10 minutes later I shake my head and try to get back to the book.
This wandering is the main reason I don’t read many books, I find it hard to concentrate on the story. I can’t even read many of the stories I have written, as I start to go off on tangents. I wrote a handful of short children’s books a couple years ago. Those I can actually finish, but not without visualizing the story which means it’ll take ten - twenty minutes to read what is essentially a 2 page double spaced children’s book. (I sent the “best” one in to a publishing house and have a nice rejection letter for my effort.)
My brain works in a way that I actually picture a story in my head. I will read the same paragraph several times if I don’t get a complete picture. It’s odd, and annoying sometimes. This issue unfortunately works with any story regardless if I want it to or not. This is main reason I don’t read news stories about all the usual badness / crime out there. I just don’t want those visions in my head. I clicked on a link today about teachers bullying a child (verbal abuse), unfortunately my brain forced me to read parts several times.
Luckily contracts, operating agreements, terms sheets, etc. don’t have this type of story to them.
